Cave diver killed in Germany | NOS

In Germany, a caver was killed in cave diving. The man got into trouble underground and could not be rescued.

The 57-year-old caver had entered the Mühlbachquellhöhle near Dietfurt in Bavaria on Saturday afternoon with three others, all experienced cave explorers. Something went wrong about 700 meters from the entrance, what exactly could the police say.

After one of the divers went for help, a major rescue operation started, involving fire brigades, rescue divers, mountain guards and police. However, they could no longer save the man.

The Mühlbachquellhöhle in the Fränkische Alb is one of the longest caves in Germany. Part of it is under water.
