In America they say “true love is when he knows how to make her the perfect cup of coffee”. Cathay Pacific wants to show us such true love. Hong Kong is a city steeped in tea culture. But the past decade has seen the rise of a homegrown coffee scene, with local roasters and specialty coffee shops opening up in every borough. That’s why Cathay Pacific decided to take it to the next level.
As we know, the sense of taste changes at 30,000 feet. That’s why Cathay’s new coffee blend has been specially designed to be enjoyed in the skies. It was created in collaboration with The Coffee Academics. The beans are selected and flown to the Coffee Academy’s Tuen Mun facility, where they are roasted in small batches to ensure freshness. The final product is custom-packaged for Cathay Pacific’s in-flight coffee machines supplied with a biodegradable material that allows water to gently filter through the grounds of the coffee, producing an elegant cup of coffee.
The Cathay blend consists of 100 percent freshly roasted Arabica beans from Vietnam and Brazil. The coffee company places great emphasis on quality, sustainability and social responsibility and buys its beans directly from small farms, supports farmers and their communities and ensures transparency and consistency in its supply chain.
