THE BAG OF THE FAVORITES OF TODAY’S STAGE
Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE LIVE of the highly anticipated first stage of the Giro d’Italia 2021. Finally here we are. Today the city of Torino will inaugurate the 104th edition of the Corsa Rosa with a 8.6 kilometer individual time trial suitable for specialists in time trials. It is inevitable to say that our country dreams big like last year in Monreale, together with world time trial champion Filippo Ganna, ready to play, once again, both the stage and the very first pink jersey of the Giro.
Let’s talk now about the path. It will be a stop in short city time trial and located around the Po. It will start from Piazza Castello, to reach the Along the Po which will lead the runners to the Valentino Park. To signal a passage in the tunnel, short and illuminated, at the exit. The chronometric detection is positioned at Valentino Castle-Medieval Village, exactly at kilometer 3.7. We will therefore walk along gods undulating avenues, then cross the Po, cross Ponte Umberto I, and finish the time trial on Corso Moncalieripractically under the Hill of Superga. The last kilometers of the test are flat and practically straight to the finish line.
Speaking of the favorites of the day, the aforementioned world champion of time trials Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) he is the very first candidate to conquer the Turin time trial. The Verbanese has returned from three seasonal victories, but in the last two months he has not been able to give the best of himself. However, we are sure that it will not disappoint us. Against him there will be first and foremost the French national champion of specialties Rémi Cavagna, along with his two teammates from the Deceuninck-Quick Step Joao Almeida e Remco Evenepoel which, among other things, could extend, in view of the general classification, on all the other rivals.
Thinking about those who will play this Giro, our standard bearers could also figure well Damiano Caruso (Bahrain Vittorio) e Fausto Masnada (Deceuninck-Quick Step). While the post-injury condition of Vincenzo Nibali (Trek-Segafredo). Instead, they seem more disadvantaged, and therefore will have to limit the damage, men like Simon Yates (Team BikeExchange), Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) e Mikel Landa (Bahrain Vittorio).
Among the candidates for today’s top ten, if not today’s podium, the names of the Azzurri stand out Edoardo Affini (Jumbo-Visma), Matteo Sobrero (Astana-Premier Tech), Alberto Bettiol (EF Education Nippo), and other experts from the likes of Victor Campenaerts (Continue ASSOS), Tobias Foss (Jumbo-Visma), Matthias Brändle, Alex Dowsett, Patrick Bevin (
Jan Tratnik (COM)The first runner to shoot will start at 2.00 pm, while the last one to cross the finish line it should arrive between 5.12pm and 5.15pm. OA Sport offers you the LIVE LIVE text integral part of the opening leg of the 2021 Giro from 13.30. Good fun!
