Castelsarrasin. The young Aveyron hope, Lucas Belony, joins the CAC

It is at the foot of the Millau Viaduct that the young three-quarter, Lucas Belony learned rugby at the age of 7. He will remain in the club of the Aveyron capital until a junior. Retained in departmental and then regional selection, he ended up joining the Hope pole of Toulouse. During his first year at the pole, he was classified in the TOP 100 while he was playing for Colomiers. He keeps the memory of his final in cadet Alamercery against Bordeaux.

Very inspired by Wesley Fofana and Chelsin Kolbe, he reached the TOP 50 in his second year after joining Stade Toulousain. But, he is injured just before the tour of the national team in South Africa and sees his comrades leave without being able to follow them. Then, the Castres Olympique comes to get him. He will play in Crabos and Espoirs and will participate with emotion in the final of the Crabos championship at the Stade de France against Grenoble.

But the Tarn club does not meet these expectations and he decides to get closer to his roots by returning to Millau. But, his training as a network editor in alternation with the AFPA of Montauban within the ENEDIS agency in Castres requires him to move again. It was therefore at the CAC that he decided to put down his bags and relaunch a busy sporting career since he also participated in the French team championship in athletics by competing in the sprint and shot put category. He explains to us the elements that enabled him to make his decision.

What made you decide to come to the CAC?

I had to get closer to where I work. However, I know Thierry Arnal, who is vice-president of the ACC. He introduced me to the club that I found very family. This is exactly what I am looking for and that I had not found in Castres. I have seen the videos where we identify very well that the team is playing very collective. To be very transparent, I was even surprised to see the ball live so much during the actions. I particularly liked it. So I was quick to say “yes”.

Were you able to make contact with your future teammates?

Unfortunately not because I was abroad during the first phase of preparation. And besides, I will not arrive until August 13 because I am held back before by obligations before. But, I still have an individualized program to get physically ready. Afterwards, within the group, I know Joan Mira and Jawad Atia well.

How would you describe yourself?

I sincerely think I am a good friend and I like having a good time with my friends. I am rather a follower of “Carpe Diem”. But, when you have to work, you can count on me. I am also very proud to have passed my BAC S three years ago. Otherwise, I am 20 years old and I measure 1m80 for 90 kg. I like the values of the family and I seem to have found them again by coming to the CAC. I like the open game and I know that I will be happy here.
