Casemiro is more afraid of CS: GO games than of football

Casemiro is not only one of the top players for Real Madrid, but also a passionate CS: GO player. Now he has revealed why he is more afraid of the latter than of any football game.

The 29-year-old Brazilian has been a fixture on the field since joining Real Madrid in 2013. Aside from football, Casemiro enjoys spending his free time perfecting his CS: GO skills. He also streams the whole thing for his fans on Twitch.

Casemiro loves CS: GO, but gets nervous about it

This is no surprise given that Valve’s shooter is hugely popular in Brazil and Miro even started his own esports organization, CaseEsports, for the game. Other football professionals such as colleague Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain are also very interested in the cult shooter.

It is surprising, however, that Casemiro said in an interview with the Spanish football website MARCA that he becomes more nervous when streaming CS: GO than in front of 80,000 people in Bernabéu.

Proximity to the fans

“Without a doubt people are much closer and if I fail there will be some insults,” said the professional with a laugh. “When I play Counter-Strike, I get a lot more nervous there than when I play at the Bernabéu. I feel more pressure when people watch me playing video games live than when I am playing football.”

This feeling is all too understandable for anyone who has ever been on Twitch or even streamed it themselves. Because anyone who thinks that only football can get people upset will quickly be taught better by the comment column on Twitch.

Casemiro is a bad loser

Casemiro also made interesting comparisons between CS: GO and football, saying that he has the most success when he plays in a similar way to the real thing.

“I’m one of those people who don’t like to lose when I go into the game. I tried to play like a striker or winger and my score was very low,” he said. “I know my position is a defensive midfielder and I have to help my team-mates. What I am in real life, I am in video games.”

Does Casemiro have what it takes to become a CS: GO professional?

It is interesting that Casemoro is much more reserved online than on the football field. He almost didn’t dare start streaming. Incidentally, he affectionately calls his favorite card in CS: GO, Inferno, “my Berbabéu”.

Casemiro doesn’t think he has what it takes to play CS: GO professionally. Even if he does well against professionals like FallN. His fans would certainly not be thrilled if he finally swapped the soccer jersey for the gaming headset.
