Case between Patricia Paay and suspects distributing sex video postponed NOW

The lawsuit, scheduled for May 14, between Patricia Paay and two men who allegedly distributed a sex video of her has been postponed. The court of North Holland confirms this to NU.nl on Friday after reports from other Dutch media.

A new date for the hearing is being sought, but is not yet known.

In February 2019, it became clear that the Public Prosecution Service (OM) had made a transaction proposal to the two suspects. Such a proposal can range from a fine to a community service and ensures that a suspect does not have to appear in court.

However, the two suspects did not agree with the proposal and that is why a lawsuit is still pending.

In addition to the two suspects, website GeenStijl also received a transaction proposal at the time after sharing a link to Paay’s video. They agreed to a fine.

The civil court in Amsterdam previously decided that GeenStijl and the suspects had to pay damages of 30,000 euros for the intangible damage that the singer suffered through revealing the images.

Paay said last year that spreading the video has destroyed her life. “It has changed me. I am much less cheated and become more shy,” said Paay.
