“Carnival” Roberts Vanags will feel like Aigars Graubas in the film – Cinema

The feature films “Jumprava. The Big Event ”was filmed in Valmiera, and this choice is not accidental. This city has a special significance in the story of the group “Jumprava”, because it is here that the origins of the group can be traced – initially the musical experiments of Aigars Gravers and Aigars Twilight in the vocal instrumental group “Vitamin” of Valmiera Hospital.

Already on the first day of filming, the legendary line-up of the group was also present, which praised the well-selected actors of the film, who are not only with a heart in music, but also look similar. The four quarters of “Jumprava” in the film will be played by Gatis Grāvers (Aigars Grāvers), Roberts Vanags (Aigars Grauba), Raimonds Celms (Ainars Ašmanis) and Rihards Zelezņevs (Aigars Krēsla). The best known of these is Vanags, a multi-instrumentalist of the group Carnival Youth. As you know, for the first years, Ingus Ulmanis and Aigars Voitišķis were also the main members of Jumprava, who will be played in the film by Mārtiņš Zvirbulis and Gvido Valters, respectively.

This film is not just about the group “Jumprava”, it is a story about the period from 1984 to 1991 – about how the group with like-minded people saw a way to address their peers and society as a whole. As the film’s director Aigars Grauba says: “” Jumprava “is an accompanying group of songs that no longer belong to the group, but to the people, because it is the listeners who connect these melodies and resonate with their experiences, emotions and experiences.” The release of the film is planned for the beginning of 2022. It is being created with the support of the National Cinema Center and Valmiera Municipality.
