Carnival caused a peak in corona infections

Figures have been compared based on data from the RIVM. The existing suspicion was correct: the number of infections in the carnival regions was higher after the party than in the regions where no carnival was celebrated. It has also been shown that celebrating carnival has an influence on the spread of other viruses. The number of flu cases in 2018 was also higher in the partying regions during Carnival season. However, it turned out that the number of deaths was not necessarily higher.

Events thus ensure a faster spread of viruses. The comparison of the number of deaths from the coronavirus in the different regions will be investigated when more data is known.
