Carlos Ghosn, former president of Nissan Motor, informed that he will help all those who supported him; Ghosn declined to comment on the proceedings against people accused of helping him flee the Lebanon since Japan.

Ghosn was arrested in Japan in late 2018 on charges of underreporting his salary and using company funds for personal purposes, charges he denies.

In late December, he escaped house arrest in Japan, where he was awaiting trial, and fled to Beirut, where he lived in his childhood.

Japan has asked U.S to extradite US Army Special Forces veteran Michael Taylor and his son Peter Taylor, accused of helping Ghosn flee and arrested in May.

Asked if he was trying to help the Taylores and others involved in their escape, Ghosn said, “You are talking about specific people, and I am not going to comment on those people you are referring to.”

“What I am saying is that I am going to help everyone who helped me (…), with my means (…) and in any way I can,” he declared, adding that he was talking about people who helped him ” usually”.

Ghosn declined to give details of his escape from Japan, claiming that this would endanger those who helped him.

Ghosn also said that Japan had not yet sent its file to Lebanon as requested by the Lebanese government. “Six months have passed and they haven’t sent the file. Why haven’t they sent it?”
