The doctor Juan Pérez Terán, head of the Cardiology unit of the Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital in Caracas, resigned his position due to pressure from the board of the health center. This was denounced this Thursday United Doctors Venezuela.
Pérez Terán served as head of the Cardiology service of that healthcare center for 14 years.
The tension between Pérez Terán and the director of the hospital, Daniels Domínguez, originated because the cardiologist refused to send the residents to the covid-19 care area without the necessary biosecurity equipment.
Given this, Domínguez sent Pérez Terán a notice of “cessation of functions”, arguing “disobedience”. So the doctor chose to present his resignation at the Venezuelan Institute of Social Security.
In a letter to his colleagues, the former head of the cardiology area explained the conflict with the management.
“This treatment, comrades, is unacceptable, which is why after 14 years of service I have decided to resign my position. Words are superfluous, deeds speak for themselves. Colleagues, look in this mirror. These outrages will continue. We never thought we would come to this but here we are, “said the doctor.
