(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 16 – At least 4,500 migrants who left Honduras for the United States managed to cross the Guatemala border. The border agents did not resist, given the presence of numerous families with children. This was reported by a Guatemalan police officer in the border town of El Florido. Mexican authorities said Thursday that 500 immigration officers would be deployed at the Guatemala border in anticipation of the caravan’s arrival. Many of these migrants believe President Joe Biden, who takes office on Wednesday, will ease US migration policy, but Washington has warned them not to count on an open-armed welcome. (HANDLE).
