Cara Delevingne donates her orgasms to science

Many make lifelong commitments to donating their organs to science in hopes of advancing human knowledge. Supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne dared to donate something far more unusual to medical research: one of her own orgasms.

The 30-year-old supermodel gave researchers a sample of her blood before and after climaxing so they could study its effects on her body chemistry, and the results will air in the docuseries BBC Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne.

Delevingne was part of this research on the “gender climax gap,” a term used to describe why men are more likely to orgasm during intercourse than women.

The test was carried out in a hospital in Germany. “I’m here to have an orgasm and give it to science. I think the female sexual desire has definitely been repressed,” the actress told the camera before the test. “I know from my love life how sexual women can be, so you’d think that in the 21st century, men and women should have equally satisfying sex lives, right?”

For the docuseries, she’s also attended a masturbation workshop, studied ethical pornography, and taken a cast of her vagina.

As they point out in this chapter of the docuseries, 95 percent of heterosexual men orgasm during intercourse, but only 65 percent of heterosexual women do. “Lesbians and queer women definitely seem to have the best stuff,” said Delevingne, who has previously come out as pansexual.
