Car hit by rocks in tunnel

A car must have been hit by stones that fell from the roof of the Fjærland tunnel, between Jølster and Sogndal, just after 10 pm on Friday night.

The police state that as a result of this a traffic accident has occurred.

– The police have received information that a car has been hit by stones and that as a result it has collided with another car, writes Vest police district.

Witnesses tell TV 2 that it was a scary experience. They feared the roof of the tunnel would fall down.

At 23 o’clock, the police inform that no people are injured in the accident.

– Contractor is now inside the tunnel where a stone about a meter in diameter has fallen down, they write.

The fire brigade on the spot informs that a stone fell from the tunnel wall and hit a cable, which caused the light to go out. They believe that the tunnel will open in about three to four hours.

– I have had incredible luck. It was a matter of seconds, Grzegorz Mazur told TV 2.
