Car drove into Christmas parade – at least five killed – VG

At least five people have died and more than 40 have been injured in Wisconsin after a car crashed into a Christmas parade.

Police evacuated the Christmas parade in the town of Waukesha west of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after a car crashed into a Christmas parade. It writes Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Just after 4.30 pm, the car broke through safety barriers and drove into the crowd.

The police in Waukesha state in a press release at 07.00 Norwegian time that five people have been killed and more than 40 people, including several children, are injured.

– We are still collecting information, so these figures may change, the police say.

Police have arrested one suspect.

INVESTIGATOR: Police have cordoned off a large area in downtown Waukesha after a car drove into a crowd Sunday night.

A video VG has seen from the parade, shows a red car driving at full speed down the same street as children and adults dancing and playing in corps.

Just after the car has passed, screams are heard from the place. In the minutes that follow, police cars arrive with sirens. The video comes from the city’s own live broadcast from the event.

Another video shows the same car driving down barricades. Several loud bangs are heard as it drives by.

Police say they do not yet know if the motive behind it is terrorism.

Witness Angelito Tenorio tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he saw an SUV at full speed into the procession. He then heard a loud bang and people who had been hit screamed and cried. He also saw people lying on the ground after the car had driven away.

In a video, it appears that the police fire shots at the runaway car.

The police have previously stated that the car that was used has been found. They do not believe that shots were fired from the suspect in the car, but the police confirm that shots were fired at the car in which the suspect was sitting. No one nearby was injured in this exchange of fire, according to Thompson.

On Facebook, the police also report that they have set up a separate place where families can meet again after the incident, and set up a separate media center at the town hall in the city.

Several video clips have appeared in the hours after the incident showing the car driving on people at high speed while the spectators scream in shock.

– What happened in Waukesha today is disgusting, and I am absolutely sure that those responsible will be responsible for what they did, tweeted State Attorney Josh Kaul in Wisconsin, the chief responsible for the prosecution.

Kaylee Staral was present at the Christmas parade, and has spoken to CNN.

– There were many families with children present. 20-30 minutes later a red SUV arrived. It hit a lot of people. When it had driven away, many people were left on the ground. Police said there were around 30 lying there, she says.

The schools in Waukesha will be closed tomorrow, the police stated at the press conference.
