The Czech national football team will miss Captain Bořek Dočkal due to the occurrence of coronavirus in the team in the evening match of the League of Nations in Israel.
Coach Jaroslav Šilhavý will also miss forward Adam Hložek, midfielder Antonín Barák, defender Filip Novák and third goalkeeper Filip Nguyen. The nomination for the match was published by the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FACR).
The national team will miss five players from the 23-member nomination in Israel. Three of them, after testing in Larnaca, where the team was preparing after Wednesday’s preparatory match with the home team of Cyprus, eliminated the covid-19, one had an inconclusive test result and the other did not travel to Haifa for capacity reasons.
Nine players set off for Israel by smaller plane only this morning, after having to undergo inspections in Cyprus on Saturday due to the unclear result of Friday’s tests. In Haifa, he will join the second nine, a total of 18 footballers will be available to Šilhavý for the match.
FACR did not directly name the three infected players, but the Italian club Verona announced on Saturday evening that Barvid had 19 covid-19. Like the other two positively tested, it is asymptomatic.
FACR thanks all professional clubs for their cooperation in creating a backup team #ceskarepre. It is still true, when it is possible, on the basis of hygienic measures, that it is a priority to send coach Šilhavý’s team to Scotland for Wednesday’s match. pic.twitter.com/crZ1ReXVns

Friday’s test with an unclear result was attended by 11 players and five people from the ranks of the implementation team and FACR employees. “The 16 of us were in solitary confinement in Cyprus all day, in a hotel room, and we were waiting for the results of the new tests. Fortunately, they were already okay. , but I believe we can do it, “said Czech midfielder Alex Král on the social network instagram and attached a photo with his teammates from a small plane.
The match in Israel has a kick-off in the evening at 20:45. On Wednesday, the national team will start the last match of the October term in Scotland. Contrary to the original plan, the team from Haifa will head to Prague on Monday, where they will undergo another round of tests.
A wider reserve team with 32 players exclusively from the Czech league is ready in reserve, whose members would complete the original selection for the match in Scotland in case of further problems with coronavirus. The substitutes are preparing in Prague under the leadership of the coach of the national team of David David Holoubek.
“The FACR thanks all professional clubs for their cooperation in creating a reserve team. It still applies when it is possible on the basis of hygienic measures, it is a priority to fly to Scotland on Tuesday with the original team of coach Šilhavý,” said FACR spokesman Michal Jurman. “The wider nomination of the backup team for Scotland will continue to narrow,” he added.
The coronavirus hit the team during Monday’s meeting in Prague. The first wave of tests revealed one infected player from Pilsen and the complete trio from Victoria, midfielders Jan Kopic with Lukáš Kalvach and forward Zdeněk Ondrášek, had to leave the team. Other withdrawals were negative and the national team played a match in Cyprus, where they won 2: 1.
The Czech team has similar problems with coronavirus as a month ago. Due to two positive tests with members of the implementation team, the team had to isolate in September after winning 3: 1 in Slovakia in the opening duel of the League of Nations and for the match at home with Scotland FAČR hastily put together a new selection exclusively from Czech league players. The improvised national team under the leadership of substitute coach Holoubek unfortunately lost 1: 2.
