The Cannes Film Festival will not take place between May 12th and 23rd due to the spread of the corona virus. The organizer announced this.
According to the message it is not yet certain whether the red carpet will be rolled out a bit later – around the end of June / beginning of July – or not at all this year.
A decision will be taken in due course in consultation with the French authorities.
The event, which has existed since 1946, is one of the most important in the film world. It was only canceled twice: in 1948 and 1950, at that time for financial reasons.
