Amalia Coello Barroso, president of Grupo Reto San Juan del Río, reported that in recent months they have detected shortages in the drugs used to fight cancer.
“There is a huge shortage, unfortunately it is an issue that is beyond our control and I cannot say exactly what it is due to, but we have found people who have undergone surgery three months ago and have not been able to give them the medication.”
He said that Grupo Reto San Juan del Río has a supplier, to whom they went in order to get medicines, but said supplier did not have the possibility of finding it either.
Coello Barroso considered that it is a circumstance that endangers the lives of patients, and being a situation that occurs nationwide, affects children, adults and, in this case, women with cancer.
He said he did not know whether as a result of this shortage there is an increase in the prices of medicines to fight cancer, since he reiterated that the main problem for patients is not finding such medicine.
