Canary Islands register 11 deaths and 162 infections, 114 of them in Tenerife | Radio Club Tenerife

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has notified 162 new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 today, so the total accumulated cases in the islands is already 25,118, with 5,714 active, of which 45 are admitted to ICU and 307 remain hospitalized.

Since the last total update of the data last Friday, we must regret the death of eleven people, eight men and three women, aged between 62 and 99 years, of which one died in Gran Canaria and the other nine in Tenerife .

Four of the deceased are associated with the outbreak of the Hogar Santa Rita home for the elderly, in Puerto de la Cruz, and one with the Cataleya socio-sanitary center.

By islands, and once the data have been consolidated by the General Directorate of Public Health, Tenerife today has 114 cases with a total of 12,092 accumulated cases and 4,538 epidemiologically active cases; Gran Canaria has 10,071 accumulated cases, 26 more than the previous day, and 1,001 active. Lanzarote adds nine new cases with 1,491 accumulated and 38 epidemiologically active; Fuerteventura has 966 accumulated cases with six more cases than the previous day and 47 active.

La Palma registers a new case and has 256 accumulated and 36 active cases; La Gomera adds six new cases, standing at 171 accumulated and 52 active. For its part, El Hierro without new cases, maintains its accumulated at 71 and two assets.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 69.89 and at 14 days at 133.65. Likewise, until today, Monday, a total of 643,410 PCR tests have been carried out on the islands, 11,082 more than those carried out until last Friday.

The General Directorate of Public Health, once the provisional data provided over the weekend had been consolidated, concludes that on Saturday there was an increase of 212 cases in the Canary Islands and on Sunday of 224 new cases, which implies a difference of three cases less than those that had been notified for those days on a provisional basis.

With regard to the situation of the COVID outbreak in the Hogar Santa Rita nursing home, Health reports that the accumulated cases in the center since the beginning of the outbreak amount to 257, of which 208 are residents and 49 workers, according to the data updated this Monday. Of those affected, 21 are in hospital admission and linked to this outbreak there have been 10 deaths.
