Canadian army helicopter crashed into sea off Greek coast

A Canadian military helicopter crashed west of Greece. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau says a search is underway. The plane went missing in the sea between Greece and Italy.

According to Greek state television, the plane crashed and all six occupants were probably killed, but that has not yet been confirmed.

The Canadian Department of Defense reports on Twitter that the CH-148 Cyclone helicopter had taken off from a frigate as part of a NATO exercise. The device disappeared from the radar for unknown reasons. On Wednesday evening, the helicopter was suddenly no longer able to make contact, a NATO source says to the American channel CBC.

According to Greek media, the wreck has already been found near the island of Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea. The body of one occupant was also found to have been found. The Canadian authorities have not yet responded to this.
