Before an important clash in the race to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, the United States of Timothy Weah and Canada of Jonathan David faced Salvador and Honduras respectively tonight.
Against Salvador, the United States did the minimum service to obtain the victory (1-0). Holder in the right lane of the American attack and active, Timothy Weah was involved in the only goal of the game by making the difference in his lane before colliding with the opposing goalkeeper. The repelled ball finally ended up at the feet of a Lille teammate before ending up in the back of the net. Released in the 73rd minute to the applause of the public, the American number 21 was named among the three players to be voted man of the match.

Later in the evening, it was Canada’s turn to host Honduras. Jonathan David started and scored the second goal of the game. In the second half, on a long ball, the center-forward of LOSC made a sublime sequence before lobbing the goalkeeper to ratify the Canadian victory (2-0) and score his 19th goal in 25 caps. With this victory, Canada remains group leader after nine days, one unit ahead of the United States. The match between the two selections will take place this Sunday, at 9:05 p.m.
