Canada Soccer: Olympic qualifiers in March

CONCACAF announced on Friday that its qualifiers for the men’s Olympic soccer tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Games will take place in March.

This qualifying tournament was due to take place on the same date last year, in view of the Summer Olympics, which were finally postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the qualifying group stage, Canada will face El Salvador (March 19), Haiti (March 22) and Honduras (March 25). The other group will be made up of Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

The semi-finals will take place on March 28, with the two tickets available for Tokyo at stake. The final, played between the two qualified countries, will take place on March 30.

The matches will be played at Jalisco Stadium and Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico. No supporters will attend the meetings, while a protected environment will be set up to ensure the safety of the participants.

Remember that the Olympic men’s soccer tournament is an event open only to players 23 and under.
