Canada seeks to return flights to Los Cabos with a new airline

San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. Although there is no official date for the return of flights from Canada to Mexico, international media have reported that Canadian airlines are already preparing for their imminent and long-awaited return to the country’s destinations, including Los Cabos, this after the cancellation of flights between the two countries since January of this year.

The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca) announced that this week it held a meeting with a Canadian airline that is interested in opening routes to Los Cabos, however, this will depend on the handling of the pandemic at the destination, said Rodrigo Esponda Cascajares, director of Fiturca.

“We had a meeting with a new Canadian airline that is looking for operations in Los Cabos in October and the first question they asked us was about the number of cases at the destination, what was the handling, the protocols and obviously they are making considerations” , explained the director of Fiturca, adding that the destination has great business opportunities to continue having tourists, however, for everything to be achieved, infections must decrease, the community must do its part and prevent the spread of the virus to all coast.

Air traffic between Mexico and Canada has been severely affected. Currently both countries have lost 99 percent of the total passengers they had before the pandemic.
