Cambium Networks wireless broadband technology is used in the defense sector

Quickly deployable IT infrastructure supports stationary and tactical operations

Rolling Meadows, USA, August 10, 2022 – Cambium Networks, a global leader in wireless networking solutions, has advanced its defense and national security solutions. The directional radio applications support border security, first responders, garrison operations and communication in the operational area. For over fifteen years, Cambium Networks has demonstrated technical leadership, product performance and durability in harsh conditions in defense and security applications around the world.

“Communications in the defense sector are important, whether in conflict situations or in support of base operations,” said Atul Bhatnagar, President and CEO of Cambium Networks. “Cambium Networks’ wireless solutions provide the reliable performance and robustness required to communicate in harsh environments.”

During the first half of 2022, Cambium Networks solutions were selected for multiple defense and security programs including:

-worldwide communication between naval bases and ships;
-tactical defense programs;
– border security;
-Multiple international programs including US-backed military sales to projects in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“Cambium Networks recently received approvals for two purpose-built wireless broadband network solutions,” said Ryan Peterson, global defense and security sales director for Cambium Networks. “Defense and national security network operators can now incorporate cnMatrix™ routing and switching systems and microwave line-of-site (MLoS) turn-key connectivity kits into their planning.”

In addition, the PTP 78700, an MLoS radio operating in the 7 and 8 GHz bands, received Joint Frequency Allocation-to-Equipment Process (JF-12) spectrum certification from the US government. This certification allows defense and security customers additional licensed spectrum for deployment of MLoS programs as an alternative to the already congested NATO Band IV and unlicensed 5 GHz bands.

In addition, the PTP 700’s FIPS 140-2 certification has been reconfirmed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under certificate number 4243. The PTP 700 works in NATO Band IV, 4.4 – 4.9 GHz, but also bridges the range from 4.9 GHz to 5.875 GHz and thus offers a high degree of frequency flexibility. The PTP 700’s embedded Dynamic Spectrum Optimization (DSO) was also recently upgraded to improve its ability to handle electronic countermeasures such as enemy jamming and interception.

Cambium Networks solutions for the federal and defense sectors are proven wireless communications for military battlefield, border, garrison and infrastructure applications with the following certifications:
-NIST FIPS 140-2 validation
-NTIA SPS (Spectrum Planning Subcommittee) certification
-JF-12 (Joint Frequency Allocation-to-Equipment Process) spectrum certification
-Multiple FIPS validated security layers including physical security, certificate security and over-the-air rekey security
-TAA compliant hardware and accessories
