Kalvin Phillips still very limited look in Manchester City. In this regard, Citizens .manager Pep Guardiola have the answer.
Phillips was bought dearly by Leeds United last summer with a € 45m price tag. Phillips is expected to be a new pillar in City’s midfield following Fernandinho’s death.
Additionally, Phillips looked charming as he strengthened Leeds, known as a reliable box-to-box midfielder. But, so far, Phillips has sunk with City.
He only made three appearances in all competitions for a total of 14 minutes! This means that he averages less than five minutes per game and has been absent since last September.
Phillips apparently underwent shoulder surgery which has been bothering him since last summer. After two months of recovery, Phillips has just resumed training this week.
However, City fans still have to wait patiently for Phillips action with Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne in midfield. Because Guardiola won’t play Phillips in relation to his condition.
This means that Phillips’ opportunity to join England for the 2022 World Cup is also under threat.
“He has been training with the team for some time. In fact there hasn’t been any physical contact, but we can see that his conditions are better. We can’t field players who aren’t ready,” he said. Pep Guardiola as reported on the official website of the club.
