A man in his sixties, suspected of several sexual assaults on women in the Calvados, was imprisoned on Thursday at Caen, announced the public prosecutor Amélie Cladière.
An investigation conducted by the research brigades of Vire and Bayeux with the support of the research section of Caen made it possible to question the man, aged about sixty, and to collect his confession on “Three facts” clerk in the department in August and September, says the prosecutor.
“Three facts” in August in September
On August 20, a man had approached a young girl in a car near Bayeux walking on the side of the road: after having dragged her into a field, he had sexually assaulted her, then abandoned her on the spot, according to the magistrate.
September 19, in the afternoon, “A young girl who was jogging on a road near Vire was approached by a motorist who, after having pushed her through the hedge, committed a very similar sexual assault on her”, added Ms. Cladière.
And on September 24 in the morning, at a bus stop near Falaise, “A teenage girl was confronted with a man who partially undressed and made requests of a sexual nature to him”. The young girl had managed to flee to her home and sound the alarm.
Already known for similar facts, the suspect was presented to an investigating judge on Thursday evening and was imprisoned, the prosecutor announced in a statement.
“The investigation will continue in order in particular to verify if he could have committed other acts”, said Ms. Cladière.
