In Warzone, players are dropped together in a city where they have to take each other out. The last survivor wins, just like in games like Fortnite and Apex Legends. A second mode lets you compete for virtual money.
Recently it turned out that the game quickly became popular: after one day the new Call of Duty played by 6 million people. That’s more than Apex Legends, which had 2.5 million players after a day.
Grows faster than Fortnite
So far, Warzone is also growing faster than Fortnite did in its early days: that game had 10 million players after two weeks – a milestone that Call of Duty has already passed after half a week. Fortnite has been available for much longer and now has 200 million players.
The substantial increase for Call of Duty is probably also due to the free nature of the game: everyone can download it without spending a cent, just like with the mentioned competitors. It therefore remains to be seen whether Warzone is also a commercial success for the makers.
