In June of this year, in Ludza region, four cases of fraudsters stole money from people’s bank accounts, Jeļena Rutkovska, an inspector of the Order Police Division of the Ludza District of the Latgale Region of the State Police, informed LETA.
She said that the locals had been called by people who had presented themselves as bank employees, even naming the person’s name, surname, personal identification code, and the name of the Internet banking user who had been called.
Due to a problem with your personal account and to fix this problem, these people have asked you to confirm your connection with the smart ID program. As a result, all the money in the person’s account was stolen.
The police representative reminds that the bank’s employees will never remotely demand such actions.
“In the event that people have been called with a similar request, the police must be informed by recording the telephone number from which the call was made. We ask the residents to act with caution in such situations, “said Rutkovska.
