California closes cafes and cinemas again due to sharp rise in corona figures NOW

In the US state of California, cafes have to be closed again and restaurants, cinemas and museums are no longer allowed to let people in. The California governor announced this on Monday.

Gyms, places of worship, hairdressers, beauty salons and shopping centers are also closed in thirty mostly populated regions of the state. This includes Los Angeles and areas around San Fransisco.

In two weeks in California, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 has increased by 28 percent, the number of people who have ended up in intensive care has increased by 20 percent. Many hospitals in rural areas are at their maximum capacity.

Los Angeles is the region with the most infections within the United States. More than 133,000 people have contracted the corona virus to date. 3,809 people died of COVID-19.

The Los Angeles and San Diego regions decided on Monday that from August, schools should only offer online classes for the time being.
