As the “long school holidays” are looming, we invite you to consult and download the school holiday calendar for the period 2022-2023. We indicate the holidays and the dates of return to you. You are also reminded in which zone your academy is located.
To begin, you need to know the area in which you are located.
Depending on whether you live in Lille, Toulouse or Bordeaux, the school holiday zone will not be the same. This is important for organizing visits to grandparents or friends, and thus getting together.
The Ministry of National Education specifies the areas
Zone A
Academies of Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon, Poitiers
Zone B
Academies of Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Normandy, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes, Strasbourg
Zone C
Academies of Créteil, Montpellier, Paris, Toulouse, Versailles

Without forgetting the academies of Corse and the overseas departments, collectivities and territories (Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, The meetingSaint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis-and-Futuna) that have specific school holiday dates.
The start of the 2022 school year is Thursday 1is September 2022 (for all zones).
All Saints holidays: from Saturday October 22, 2022 to Monday November 7, 2022 (zones A, B, C)
Christmas holidays: from Saturday December 17, 2022 to Tuesday January 3, 2023 (zones A, B, C)
Winter vacation :
Zone A – Saturday February 4 to Monday February 20
Zone B – Saturday February 11 to Monday February 27
Zone C – Saturday February 18 to Monday March 6
Spring Break :
Zone A – Saturday April 8 to Monday April 24
Zone B – Saturday April 15 to Monday May 2
Zone C – Saturday April 22 to Monday May 9
Summer holidays (for all zones) :

In the 1964-1965 school year, metropolitan France was divided into two zones (Group A / Group B). The 1970-1971 school year only included a single zone.
Then, during the years 1980-1981 and 1981-1982, the calendars were fixed locally by the academic services, hence the existence of numerous zones.
Since 1995, date of the decree of July 24, it is the distribution in three zones of holidays A, B and C, which applies until today.
