Cak Imin: Don’t Get Involved In NU and Muhammadiyah … Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin to ask the Minister of Education and Culture ( Minister of Education and Culture) Nadiem Makarim not forgetting the role of Nadhlatul Ulama ( NOT) and Muhammadiyah in the world of Indonesian education.

This was conveyed by Cak Imin following the withdrawal of the two largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia from the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Activist Organization (POP) Program.

“I tweeted today protesting to the Minister of Education and Culture. Please never forget the history of the role of Nahdlatul Ulama in the education and intelligence of the lives of the people, nation and state. Including Muhammadiyah,” Cak Imin said in a speech by Harlah PKB, which was broadcast on the channel NU Channel, Thursday (7/23/2020) night.

“So whatever the policy, do not ever involve NU, including Muhammadiyah. If not, that minimum quality is the case,” he continued.

Cak Imin added, the question of POP itself which received support from the state budget needed to be evaluated.

He said, subsidies from the state budget should be given to those who deserve to be helped because they are financially weak.

“I was told, from the beginning the APBN for assistance to drive the educational organization which was subsidized was finally evaluated. The strong did not need to be assisted by the APBN, help the weak through the APBN. Not the strong who were assisted by the APBN,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives said that from the beginning he supported Nadiem to become Minister of Education and Culture because the former Gojek boss was considered to have good steps for the progress of Indonesia.

However, Cak Imin again emphasized that Nadiem should not forget the role of NU and Muhammadiyah in educating the life of the nation.

“But full support without guarantees to Pak Nadiem. But never, do not involve NU and Muhammadiyah. Because before the republic was born, NU and Muhammadiyah had been active in educating the lives of many nations,” he said.

Reportedly, the Nahdlatul Ulama Ma’arif Education Institute (LP Ma’arif NU) has resigned from the POP initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Previously, the Basic and Secondary Education Council (Dikdasmen) of the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah also stated withdrawing from active participation in POP.

Chairman of the PP Muhammadiyah Dikdasmen Assembly Kasiyarno said, there were a number of reasons why Muhammadiyah from POP.

“After we took part in the selection process in the Directorate General Program (POP) of the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel (GTK) of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and considered several things, we hereby declare withdrawing from the program’s participation,” Kasiyarno said in his written statement received by Kompas. tv, Tuesday (7/21/2020).

Even so, Muhammadiyah remains committed to assisting the government in improving education with a variety of training, competencies of school principals and teachers through programs implemented by Muhammadiyah even without participation in POP.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the LP Maarif NU Arifin Junaidi questioned the selection process which he considered unclear.

Another reason for NU’s withdrawal is because the NU Maarif Education Institute is currently focusing on handling the training of principals and madrasah principals in 15 percent of the total schools / madrasas or around 21,000 schools / madrasas.

Those who take part in the training must train the teachers in their education units and school principals and other madrasa principals in the surrounding environment. While POP must be completed by the end of this year.

“Even though we did not join POP, we still carried out the mobilization program independently,” he said as quoted by NU Online.
