He Cádiz City Council, headed by José María González Santos ‘Kichi’, opened a procedure to change the name of the Ramón de Carranza Stadium, in honor of the politician who was a member of the FET de las JONS. The popular vote, inspected by a commission, has clarified that the Cadista fans do not agree with the change of name, since the most voted options in this first phase have been Ramón de Carranza Stadium and Carranza Stadium, followed at a great distance by two names that have little to do with Cádiz: Francisco Franco Y Santiago Abascal.
According to the Diario de Cádiz, Ramón de Carranza has won the vote with a figure higher than 600 mentions in the email [email protected]. Estadio Carranza received a similar number of votes, while Francisco Franco and Santiago Abascal surpassed 200 proposals.
The committee responsible for the procedure has rejected these four names and has selected the following eight proposals as finalist options: La Tacita de Plata, (119 mentions), Bahía de Cádiz (77), Nuevo Mirandilla (57), Gadir (52), Ciudad de Cádiz (56), Gades (27), De la Laguna (19) and La Pepa ( 17).
The final list will be made available to the Local Government Board to submit the selection to a new popular vote in which the people registered in Cádiz and the members of the yellow club.
