Cabinet wants to offer more freedom with ‘corona passport’

The cabinet is working on proof of non-contagiousness to give people more freedom. Such a corona passport offers more freedom for vaccinees, people who have had themselves tested or people who have recently had corona and are therefore immune. With such proof in hand, people can go to a concert, festival or the cinema, for example.

Outgoing Health Minister De Jonge says that the cabinet is working on “making it technically possible”, but that there are still some questions. Among other things, it must be established whether vaccinees play a role in the spread of the corona virus.

“And what we do not want is a compulsory vaccination, not even indirectly”, the minister emphasizes. “People should not feel compelled to get vaccinated.”

There is already an app that can make a code on your phone from a test certificate, says De Jonge. “We can adapt the app in such a way that it makes the same code from a vaccination certificate.” It is important, the minister believes, that the person at the door should not be able to see whether someone has been tested or vaccinated.
