BYD Seal 07 EV Approved for Sale in China, Boasts 240 kW Motor adn LiDAR Technology

Beijing – The all-electric BYD Seal 07 EV has received approval from China’s Ministry of Industry and Facts Technology (MIIT), signaling its imminent market launch. The vehicle features a powerful 240 kW electric motor and incorporates rooftop LiDAR, indicating advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

The Seal 07 EV’s design emphasizes a modern aesthetic, highlighted by a three-part air intake and full-width rear lights wiht chrome accents. the addition of LiDAR on the roof represents a meaningful upgrade to the vehicle’s autonomous driving systems.

BYD’s Nanjing facility manufactures the TZ200XYAT electric motor powering the Seal 07 EV, delivering a peak power output of 240 kW. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries are sourced from Zhengzhou Fudi Battery co., Ltd., a company within the BYD Group.

MIIT documentation currently lacks details regarding battery capacity, range, charging rates, and energy consumption. BYD has not yet announced these specifications or a firm launch date.

The Seal 07 EV shares dimensions with the already-marketed Seal 07 DM-i hybrid model – launched in September 2025 – with a slight increase in body width. The DM-i variant, priced between RMB 149,800 and 186,800 (approximately IDR 336 million to IDR 420 million based on an exchange rate of IDR 2,240 per RMB), also offers LiDAR-equipped driver assistance systems through its DiPilot 300 or God’s Eye-B systems. The EV version is anticipated to carry a higher price tag reflecting its fully electric powertrain and advanced technology.

Industry analysts suggest a potential launch window of early to mid-2026, as MIIT approvals typically precede official announcements by weeks or months. BYD intends the Seal 07 EV to be a key competitor in the mid-size electric sedan segment, particularly among vehicles utilizing LiDAR technology for enhanced autonomous features.
