By tightening quarantine, Israel is restricting outbound flights to the world

The Israeli government on Friday imposed new restrictions on departing flights, tightening up the second quarantine regime that was introduced last week.

“According to the agreed terms, those who have bought plane tickets before these isolation measures will be able to leave the country, that is, before September 25 at 2 pm,” said Transport Minister Miri Regeva in a statement.

“People who buy tickets after this time will not be able to use them,” the minister said, adding that Israelis would be able to return to the country “without restrictions.”

In the first week of quarantine, Israel has failed to reduce its infection rate, so the quarantine regime will be tightened on Friday at 2 p.m.

The new rules will close jobs and markets, further restrict religious ceremonies and demonstrations.

Due to the quarantine regime, schools have already been closed, restrictions on work and rest have been set.

In a country with a population of nine million, more than 215,000 coronavirus infections have been confirmed, and the number of Covid-19-related deaths has reached 1,378.

More than 7,500 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed on Thursday.
