Tonight at 05.20 Norwegian time, the ship Sendje Berge, owned by the Oslo Stock Exchange-listed company BW Offshore, was hijacked by pirates off the coast off Nigeria. Nine Nigerian nationals were kidnapped.

It emerges from one Message from the company.

The incident has to be clarified, and “none of those left on board have suffered physical injuries,” the company writes.

BW Offshore cooperates with local authorities, which are represented on site with the Nigerian Navy.

E24 has not yet received comments on the incident from BW Offshore, but the company writes that it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Sendje Berge is located on the Okwori field in Nigeria under contract with Addax Petroleum.

Nigeria is among the world’s most vulnerable countries when it comes to pirates, according to NRK.
