Federal Health Minister Spahn has called for a higher vaccination rate in some federal states. Compared to other countries, Baden-Württemberg lags behind when it comes to vaccinations.
Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) pointed out the differences in the progress of corona vaccinations between the federal states on Saturday. He gave the north-west of Germany a good report. However, the south of Germany, such as Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, received the request to add to the quota. “In the north-west we are almost there, in the south-east we should achieve significantly higher rates,” wrote the CDU politician on Twitter.

Two thirds of all citizens with at least one vaccination
According to Spahns, 62.9 percent of citizens in Germany (52.3 million people) now have full vaccination protection. 67.1 percent (55.8 million) received at least one vaccination. If you compare the figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for the individual federal states, you can see that significantly more people are vaccinated against Corona in the north-west of the Federal Republic of Germany than, for example, in the south-east.
Baden-Württemberg in vaccinations in the middle
In Baden-Württemberg, according to the current RKI figures, 61.5 percent of people are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, 64.3 percent have received at least one vaccination (as of September 18). This puts Baden-Württemberg in the middle of all federal states.
Bremen is the nationwide leader: 77.7 percent of citizens have been vaccinated once and 73.3 percent have full protection. In Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia, too, more than 70 percent of the residents received at least one corona vaccination. In eastern Germany, the vaccination rates are still mostly significantly lower than in the west. In Saxony, for example, so far only 56.9 percent have received a first and 53.6 a second spade. In Thuringia, too, the vaccination rate is still below 60 percent. With 63.8 percent first vaccinations and 60.8 percent second vaccinations, Bavaria is also well behind north-west Germany.
Stricter rules for unvaccinated people
Because the vaccination rates are not yet in the areas desired by politicians and doctors, there is growing concern that the number of occupied intensive care beds will rise again in autumn and the health system could be overloaded. Like other federal states, Baden-Württemberg has therefore issued new rules for unvaccinated people. New rules and restrictions apply to them with a warning system. Depending on the occupancy of the intensive care beds with Covid-19 patients and the so-called hospitalization incidence, three levels apply, in which either the 3G rules or the 2-G rules apply.
Kretschmann turns to unvaccinated people
Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Kretschmann (Greens) had addressed the unvaccinated in a video message. In it, he again called on people to get vaccinated against corona. Although he expressed understanding for the decision against it, it also put others in danger. Kretschmann pointed out that the incidence in those who were vaccinated is just under 20 and in those who have not been vaccinated it is well over 200. That is why stricter corona rules are now needed for unvaccinated people.
The federal government’s vaccination week comes to an end
The federal government’s vaccination week will come to an end on Sunday (September 19). The willingness to vaccinate should be increased with special offers before autumn. The City Council is now calling for creative measures to be continued. “Opportunity makes vaccinations. It is all the more important that these effective offers are also available after the end of the vaccination centers on October 1, 2021,” said Städtetag general manager Helmut Dedy to the editorial network Germany.
Health insurance chief Andreas Gassen spoke in the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” for the end of all corona restrictions on October 30th as an incentive to vaccinate. The SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach considers this to be “ethically unjustifiable”. The wave that would come would be too big, warned the SPD politician on Twitter.

In order to get more people to vaccinate, Lauterbach proposed a state vaccination premium in the “Passauer Neue Presse”.
