Buy iPhone 12 in Singapore Tomorrow, Beware of being Stamped by HP BM

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Apple open pre-order for iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max with 5G connectivity in Singapore starting Friday (16/10). It has just been announced that the queue for iPhone 12 in Singapore is rumored to be snaking.

The iPhone 12 pivot opening in Singapore is quite fast, or three days after the announcement of the iPhone 12 launch in the United States.

Meanwhile, consumers in Indonesia have not been able to buy the cellphone domestically. This is because Apple has just pre-ordered the cellphone to a number of countries, one of which is Singapore.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro in Singapore will start on Friday, 16 October and sales will start on 23 October 2020. Meanwhile for the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max will start on Friday, 6 November with availability starting at 13 November 2020.

In Singapore, the price for the iPhone 12 starts at Sin $ 1,299 or Rp.14.1 million, while the iPhone 12 Mini starts at Sin $ 1,149 or Rp12.4 million.

The iPhone 12 Pro will have a starting price tag of S $ 1,649 or Rp. 17.8 million and the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be sold starting from S $ 1,799 or Rp.19.5 million.

For Indonesian citizens who want to buy iPhone 12 in Singapore, they must first check the regulations that apply in Indonesia regarding cellphones purchased from abroad, otherwise the cellphone will be labeled as BM (black market).

In government regulations, Indonesian citizens who buy cellphones from abroad are required to register their cellphone IMEI to https://www.beacukai.go.id/register-imei.html. Each person is only allowed to bring or register two IMEIs for new mobile phones from abroad.

Especially for cellphones whose price is above US $ 500, such as the iPhone, it will be subject to a tax that has been determined by the government.

If this is not done, consumers will not get a domestic provider network. Meanwhile, if you comply with these rules, the cellphone can get a domestic network in no later than 2×24 hours.

Previously, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance said that people who buy cellphones from abroad will be taxed when the IMEI rules take effect. Users will be subject to 10 percent value added tax (VAT) and 7.5 percent income tax (PPh). In total, the tax that must be paid by users is 17.5 percent and will take effect in April 2020.

Director General of Customs and Excise Heru Pambudi said the move was considered effective in suppressing the circulation of illegal cell phones (black market).

“People who buy cellphones from abroad will be subject to 10 percent VAT and 7.5 percent PPH. So it’s better to buy the official one, because the official is made in Indonesia,” said Director General of Customs and Excise Heru Pambudi to media crews at the Ministry of Industry office, Jakarta, some time ago.

According to him, this is to tackle illegal cellphones which have been rampant in Indonesia in recent years.
