Both the defense and the prosecution appealed the verdict. Mladic’s lawyers are demanding the acquittal, while the prosecution is just wanting the conviction to be extended to include war crimes committed in six additional Bosnian villages.
The appeal process has already been postponed twice. It should have started in March, but was then postponed due to health issues from Mladic. It was postponed again in June, this time due to the corona pandemic.
