But no interest in Knicks center Mitchell Robinson?

Mitchell Robinson will apparently attract some interest in free agency, but despite initial speculation, the Dallas Mavericks are apparently not among the candidates. The New York Knicks center is reportedly being courted by an Eastern rival.

Like Marc Berman from the New York Post reported, the Mavs will not hunt down Robinson in free agency because he is probably too expensive for them. The 24-year-old is targeting an annual salary of at least $11 million in the offseason. According to the report, Dallas is looking for a center, but will apparently be looking for cheaper options.

Robinson averaged 8.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks last season and is now an unrestricted free agent. The Knicks still have until June 30 to negotiate a contract extension, but according to In Begley (SNY.tv) it is very likely that the center will test free agency.

In addition to an extension in New York, the Chicago Bulls could then position themselves on the market as an option for Robinson. Of the Post Chicago could become the Knicks’ main competitor in their courtship of Robinson.

The Bulls apparently see him as an upgrade on defense and a good fit alongside the more offensively oriented Nikola Vucevic. The Bulls are also said to be interested in a trade for the Utah Jazz’s Rudy Gobert.
