Business and investment forum Côte d’Ivoire – North America: More than 10,000 billion CFA francs announced

The Radisson Blu Airport hotel in Port-Bouët served as the setting for the meeting which brought together more than 40 foreign companies.

As part of the consolidation of economic, commercial and financial cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and North America in general and the United States in particular, investments amounting to more than 19,527,930,000 billion dollars, or more than 10,000 billion FCfa are announced. The announcement was made on the occasion of the first business and investment forum between Côte d’Ivoire and this part of the world, organized on November 11, 2021, by the Foreign Economic Promotion Service of Côte d ‘ Ivory in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico (Speci-Usa).

The meeting, which aimed to establish a framework for negotiations and conclusion of financing agreements for priority projects included in the National Development Plan (Pnd) for the period 2021-2025, was held at the Radisson Blu hotel Airport, in Abidjan – Port-Bouët.

Representing the Prime Minister, Emmanuel Essis, Minister for the Promotion of Private Investments, indicated that private investments raised the GDP rate which rose from 7.3% in 2012 to 15.9% in 2020. It is He therefore rightly welcomed the holding of this forum which reflects all the interest in Côte d’Ivoire as a privileged destination for international investments in Africa.

“Côte d’Ivoire has put the private sector at the heart of its development policy in order to improve its economic growth. As a result, the government has undertaken deep structural reforms in order to create an economic administrative framework favorable to the call for international investment. These efforts have encouraged private investment, the rate of which rose from 7.3% of GDP in 2012 to 15.9% in 2020, giving a strong impetus with an average growth rate of 8% of GDP in 2019 ”, s is it expressed.

On the occasion, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and the Diaspora, Kandia Kamissoko Camara, welcomed this forum which, according to her, comes at the right time. Because it will allow Côte d’Ivoire to show that these choices do not stop at simple slogans. This, in accordance with the vision of the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara.

Welcoming these investment announcements, Minister Kandia Camara stressed that “the harshness of economic and commercial competition requires us to adapt the management instruments and methods of building the trade environment”.

“Concretely, we must favor strategic partnerships bringing together the real actors, the economic operators and our political leaders in a win-win process”, she suggested.

On the occasion, the president of the organizing committee, Inza Camara, also ambassador and general delegate of Speci, affirmed that this forum will facilitate the signing of partnerships between the Ivorian government and American investors.

This is why he wanted this cooperation to be the start of a new economic era for Côte d’Ivoire. He therefore pledged to work more on a constructive dialogue to improve the business climate in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly on the American market.

At the end of this ceremony, two contracts were signed. The first signature was made between two Ivorian and American private companies. The second contract was signed between a private American company and the Ivorian government.
