Buses and trains stand still on Tuesday in Freiburg – Freiburg

The buses and trains of the Freiburger Verkehrs-AG remain in the depot on Tuesday. Verdi has called for a warning strike – commuters should therefore be stuck in traffic.

The Verdi union has called on the 350 employees of the Freiburger Verkehrs-AG (VAG) to go on a full-day warning strike on Tuesday, September 39. Therefore, all buses remain in the depot from the start of operation to the end of operation. According to the VAG, the strike also affected the Schauinslandbahn as well as the Pluspunkt (Salzstraße 3) and the customer center in the bike station, the VAG lost property office and the department for the increased transport fee in the VAG center.

In the case of buses, only lines 15 and 16 in Gundelfingen and line 31 (Paduaallee – Niederrimsingen – Gündlingen – Breisach) run according to the usual schedule. On line 32 (Haid – Rieselfeld – Opfingen – Waltershofen – Paduaallee) there are no individual journeys. All journeys that are made by private subcontractors on behalf of VAG take place on this line.
The VAG points out that the bus routes that run despite the strike do not offer any connection to other VAG trams or bus routes. It is also pointed out that destinations in the city of Freiburg can be reached by public transport with the lines of the Breisgau S-Bahn as well as the inner-city stops of the regional transport of Deutsche Bahn and with some lines of the bus companies operating in the surrounding area.

Commuters and schoolchildren who are dependent on public transport have to deal with massive restrictions. The ADAC expects that the strike will be considerably more crowded on the streets. Therefore, car commuters should also be prepared for traffic jams during rush hour.

Employer offer rejected

With the warning strike, the Verdi union wants to emphasize its demands in the currently ongoing nationwide collective bargaining for local public transport. Among other things, Verdi is striving for relief days, significantly better overtime regulations and an increase in vacation pay for the approximately 8,600 employees in local public transport in Baden-Württemberg. In the negotiations on September 16, employers tabled an offer that the union rejected as completely inadequate.
