BURGUNDY: Inauguration of the Thermes de Santenay

The Santenay thermal baths were inaugurated this Friday, October 8 in the presence of the partners of this 12.8 million euros project implemented by ValVital. A thermal spa is open to all, including cabins for two.

It had been more than 20 years since France had known the opening of a spa establishment. It is in the heart of the vines classified as “Climats of the Burgundy vineyard” by Unesco that ValVital takes up this new challenge with the Thermes de Santenay, which opened their doors last spring.

Santenay, a small village of 1,000 inhabitants, is happy to see its thermal spring and its most lithinized waters in Europe once again become beneficial waters for health. ValVital presents a global achievement, illustration of its know-how, bringing together both a “medical thermal space” for the approved cures, a “well-being space” with a thermal spa and an “accommodation space” with a residence for them. curists but also for travelers looking for a residence with an integrated spa.

A Source and virtues

Santenay water has many virtues for rheumatic ailments and digestive and metabolic ailments. With ministerial approval, ValVital offers a wide choice of rheumatological cures, osteoarthritis, chronic low back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, and for the sequelae of osteoarticular trauma. Digestive and metabolic ailments will also be treated such as functional digestive disorders, colopathies, diabetes….

A thermal season that started very favorably

With more than 800 curists for the 2021 season, the thermal baths of Santenay have already successfully launched since last May, meeting the needs of a clientele who appreciated the quality of the equipment, the human size of the establishment, professionalism of care.

Creation of a new thermal establishment in France

Creating a new establishment is an issue that has required ValVital to carry out a meticulous study in order to respond favorably to the current expectations of spa clients. ValVital imagined a building to fit into this landscape of vines and mills that can accommodate nearly 3,000 spa guests per year. On more than 2,300m², with an architecture open to nature, ValVital has designed a space reserved for approved 18-day cures or 6-day mini health cures. The 150m² panoramic swimming pool has a view of the surrounding nature. It is equipped with jet ramps, a mobilization zone, a bubbling carpet, a jacuzzi and two whirlpool bed benches. The building also houses an area reserved for hydrotherapy treatments, ataplasms, and massages as well as individual baths. A rest room allows you to enjoy moments of zenitude. The thermal baths will be open from April to November.

A thermal spa open to all

ValVital also offers a wellness area open to all to benefit from the benefits of thermal water. The panoramic swimming pool is accessible in the afternoons, after the mornings reserved for cures. At the heart of the spa are: a jacuzzi, water jets, a small hot / cold pool, individual baths, a sauna, a hammam, a musical cave, and a caldarium. ValVital also offers body and facial treatments in one of the spa’s 6 cabins equipped with showers with the ValVital cosmetic range, enriched with thermal waters. In a duo version, in a premium and exclusive spirit, ValVital offers two cabins for two equipped with baths and massage tables with private terrace access. The spa will be open all year round.

A hotel residence with direct access to the thermal baths

In order to provide a comfortable place, the creation of a hotel residence was naturally necessary, like what already exists in Thonon. 49 apartments have therefore been created, with a surface area of 21 to 33m². A 63m² suite is also available. All rooms are equipped with a kitchenette for cooking during long stays.

In addition, a large dining room also allows you to have breakfast in the company of other guests. The contemporary decoration has been imagined in soothing pastel colors. A glass tunnel gives direct access to the thermal baths which can therefore be reached in a bathrobe for more ease during the treatment. There is also a conference room and a tea room. Private parking allows you to park your vehicle safely during your stay.

Santenay, accessible and oenological

Santenay is located between Dijon and Lyon, in the Côte d’Or countryside where the hillsides form long lines of vineyards. Tastings in the region’s cellars, a visit to the Hospices de Beaune, hiking and cycling are possible nearby. Gambling enthusiasts can also have fun at the Village Casino. Santenay is 3h30 from Paris by motorway and 2h40 by TGV (Dijon) + TER. Dole Airport is less than an hour’s drive away.

Partners committed to the attractiveness of the territory

To finance this project, which required an investment of € 12.8 million, the Banque des Territoires mobilized € 1.4 million in equity alongside Valvital, which invested the same amount. The commune of Santenay, with the presence of the thermal baths center, becomes again the first thermal station of Côte d’Or and in the same way the only commune classified Tourist Station, pledge of tourist assets of excellence. Watched over by its windmill, Santenay has all the charm of a resort in the heart of a renowned vineyard. Dominated by the Mont de Sène from which adventurous paragliders soar, flying over the bucolic hamlet of Saint Jean de Narosse and its Romanesque church, the beautiful residences of the winegrowers sit alongside a medieval castle in glazed tiles, framed by its plane trees witnessing 4 centuries of history. Crossroads of greenways and cycle routes, the town of Santenay offers many activities (Thermal Center, Casino, Swimming pool, Tennis, camping, nautical stop).
