Burglar loots half a billion worth of stamps in Hong Kong | Abroad

The thief struck at an apartment of Chinese collector Fu Chunxiao in the bustling Kowloon district and took only two hours to retrieve the dizzying catch, a police source said.

Fu was in mainland China at the time of the break-in on Thursday, September 10, the police source said, who asked not to be named.

The thief walked into the sixteen-story building, pried open an iron gate and forced a wooden door into the apartment, before leaving with the loot by the same route.

The precious items were taken from a locked drawer in the apartment, the source said. They include calligraphy by former Chinese leader Mao Zedong and five extremely valuable stamps.
