Ghost games? Trainers have more influence

– –

Max Eberl from Borussia Mönchengladbach believes that the already important influence of the coaches becomes even greater through ghost games. The reason for this is simple.

The Bundesliga continues on Saturday. In the event that the season is still canceled, the DFL has an emergency plan. The clubs themselves should vote on Thursday. But nothing comes of it.

AOn Wednesday, everyone should be brought in line if possible. The Bundesliga agreed with Peter Peters (Schalke 04), head of the supervisory board, the league vice president Steffen Schneekloth (Holstein Kiel) as the second division clubs. Both in separate video conferences with the clubs, both with the one goal: a large majority please vote for the dropout scenario with champions and relegated players.

The goal is to end the season. But at the German Football League (DFL) they are apparently prepared for everything – or better: they actually wanted to prepare for everything.

Because nothing will come of it for the time being. After intense and, according to reports, sometimes violent debates, the first division clubs decided to postpone this issue by a week. According to a “Kicker” report, ten clubs spoke in favor of the DFL Presidium’s request, eight against. Too many to be able to rely on consensus on Thursday.

Emergency scenario with master and relegated

An emergency scenario was created behind the scenes in the event of a season break. If the season cannot be completed for legal reasons (e.g. quarantine measures or prohibition of contact sports), the current table should be evaluated, BILD reported. This could be a champion, there would be two permanent relegations and no increase in the leagues. The DFL wants the 36 clubs to vote on these modalities at the general meeting this Thursday.

According to the first and second league, the clubs are to be presented with two papers with the hope of approval. The reason is that it should be avoided that a club that has been knocked down provokes a demolition.

In the DFL-Sptze’s request it said: “Should the complete end of the season become impossible, the basic principle of a sporting promotion and relegation between the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga and between the 2nd Bundesliga and the 2nd division should be retained the number of 18 clubs is recorded; this should apply in the relationship between the 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd League, even if the 3rd League has completed the season to a comparable extent as the 2nd Bundesliga. “

FC Bayern is the current Bundesliga leader before the desired restart on Saturday, the direct relegation spots are currently occupied by Werder Bremen and SC Paderborn. What is open is what happens when clubs have played different numbers of games. Werder and Frankfurt, for example, currently have one game less than the rest of the league.

As a second point, the clubs should agree that the season can be completed by June 30, but also in July if necessary. Numerous player contracts end on June 30th. It is also planned that all clubs decide to change the statutes. According to information from the “kicker”, it is about transferring a game to another stadium if there is an overriding imperative legal, organizational and / or security-related reason. If none of the clubs involved were to blame for the change of stadium, the DFL would assume the additional costs for the staging of the game that resulted from the change of stadium.
