MiG-29 lost radio communication and disappeared from radar at 00:45 at night

A search and rescue operation began immediately, which continues to this day, the Bulgarian Defense Ministry noted.

A MiG-29 fighter of the Bulgarian Air Force crashed in the Black Sea during a training mission as part of the Shabla-21 tactical exercise. About it reported Ministry of Defense of the country on Wednesday, June 9.

It is indicated that the MiG-29 lost radio communication and disappeared from the radar at 00:45 at night (the time coincides with Kiev).

“A search and rescue operation began immediately, which continues to this day. It involves forces and assets from the Naval Forces, the Joint Special Operations Command, the Border Police and the Air Force,” the statement says.

Military maneuvers of Shabla-21 have been suspended due to the incident.

On the eve it was reported that in Poland MiG-29 fired by mistake during exercises the same fighter flying with him. The pilot of the plane was not injured and managed to land the car. At the same time, the MiG-29 was seriously damaged.

Previously in the annexed Crimea two Russian pilots ejected from a Su-30SM fighter standing on the ground. The pilots survived, but a technician was injured.
