Hello, we are Thekla Werk and Sylvia Krenke-Felten.
We would like to introduce you to a new offer.
The sign language school, the association Hand zu Hand eV, the deaf center, the regional association of the deaf and the EUTB counseling center have joined forces for a new project: “To build bridges”
In the deaf community we notice two groups. On the one hand there are deaf people who grew up in Germany with German sign language. And on the other hand, there are deaf people who have only learned German sign language as a second language through migration and flight.
Many say: “My sign language is not yet good enough.” This separates people from one another and makes it difficult for them to grow together. That’s why we want to build bridges. We want to grow together better as a sign language community. And we also want all participants to be able to understand the interpreters even better.
Our offer is a sign language course. But it’s also more than a sign language course. It should not only be a pure learning of German signs, but also cultural content should be exchanged. We want to get to know each other and the different perspectives. The written language should also be practiced.
The offer should take place weekly.
It is free of charge for all participants.
