Bucharest Residents Face Days Without heat and Hot Water as Thermal Network Repairs Begin
Bucharest, Romania – Hundreds of buildings across multiple sectors of Bucharest will experience interruptions in heating and hot water service in the coming days as Compania Municipală Termoenergetica București (CMTEB) undertakes urgent repairs to the city’s thermal energy network. The outages, begining October 20, 2025, are necessary to address breakdowns and network failures.
Sector 1: 20 blocks and buildings on Strada Smaranda Brăescu will be without service from October 20,2025,at 08:00 untill October 21,2025,at 23:00. An additional 23 blocks and buildings on Bulevardul Mareșal Alexandru averescu will be affected by a network failure from October 22, 2025, at 08:00 to October 23, 2025, at 23:00.Repairs on Nicolae Titulescu Road will impact a thermal point serving 4 blocks and buildings during the same period, October 22-23, 08:00-23:00.
Sector 2: Work on Radovanu Street will cut service to 18 blocks from October 20, 2025, at 09:00 until October 24, 2025, at 23:00. A breakdown on Aleea Hobita will affect 8 blocks from October 20, 2025, at 09:00 to October 22, 2025, at 23:00. Further repairs on St. Slt. Cristescu Dima will suspend service to 18 blocks from October 22, 2025, at 09:00 until October 24, 2025, at 23:00.
Sector 4: A significant outage impacting 129 blocks and 2 economic agents is planned for the area of VV Stanciu, CR Motru, and Calea Văcărești streets, affecting 6 thermal points from October 20, 2025, until October 23, 2025, at 23:00.
Sector 5: A thermal point serving 10 blocks in the Alexandriei Road area will be offline from October 20, 2025, until october 22, 2025, at 23:00.
Sector 6: Work at the intersection of 1 Mai Boulevard and Brașov street, while requiring a stoppage of heating agent, will not directly impact any consumers, scheduled from October 21, 2025, 09:00 to October 23, 2025, 23:00. Repairs to a ventilation shaft at the intersection of Valea lui Mihai and Valea Călugărească streets will cut service to a thermal point serving 20 blocks on October 23, 2025, between 09:00 and 22:00.
CMTEB has not yet announced specific details regarding potential option heating solutions for residents during the outages. The company states the repairs are essential to ensure the long-term reliability of Bucharest’s thermal energy infrastructure.
