BTN Will Close 29 Office Networks Again, What’s Up?

PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) plans to close its 29 office network in 2021. The closure consisted of 24 cash offices, 3 sub-branches, 1 branch office, and 1 payment point.

Director of Distribution & Retail Funding at Bank BTN, Jasmin, said the 29 closed office networks were located in Aceh, Java, to Jabodetabek.

“This year BTN will close 29 offices. So 1 is in Aceh because it is related to the implementation of Islamic financial institutions, the others are mostly in Jabodetabek or in Java as well,” he said in a virtual press conference, Wednesday (28/7/2021).

This was done to transform branch operational models as points of sales and service by centralizing operational processes to regions. In this case, it is certain that there will be no reduction of employees.

“We are doing more this year to increase productivity so many of our branches are still not productive. One of the strategic initiatives this year is to change our branch model which used to be just points of service, later we will turn it into points of sales and focus on protecting TPF ( third party funds),” he said.

Number of office network closures BTN in 2021 this is also much reduced compared to last year.

“This year is not as much as last year. If last year we closed 130 branches, this year we are 29,” he said.
