BSP will support the cabinet of “There is such a people”, but under 5 conditions

The BSP will vote against the GERB government – it will support “There is such a people”, but under conditions. This was announced by BSP leader Cornelia Ninova at a briefing after a meeting of the party’s National Council.

As for the parliamentary work and the formation of a government – the National Council adopted the following position. When proposing a government in the mandate of GERB PG to “BSP for Bulgaria” to vote against. When proposing a government in the mandate of “There is such a people” to consultations are being held and the BSP will give support, although it will not participate in it, provided that the candidate for prime minister and the party that nominated him publicly declare their readiness for the following.

First – rapid and consistent action to control the pandemic and to implement measures to mitigate its social and economic consequences.

Second, the fight against corruption, strengthening the independent judiciary and the media, and restoring parliamentarism.

Third – an objective and thorough revision of the state of the budget, Bulgaria’s obligations, European resources and the management system of operational programs, the implementation of investment projects in infrastructure, energy and defense, “said Ninova.

She pointed out that the fourth condition is related to the transparency of the process of negotiating the operational programs with the EU for the programming period 2021-2027 and presenting a revised National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability.

“Fifth – an amendment to the electoral legislation in order to provide guarantees for reliable reporting of the vote of each voter and to take operational measures to sharply limit the purchase and corporate vote. And now another condition – if the party proposing government or broadcasts from Cabinet intends to carry out actions on its own initiative or its coalition partners, which contradict the main political guidelines or election commitments of the BSP, it will not receive support from the PG of the “BSP for Bulgaria”, said Ninova.

“You already know that the National Council has expressed a position of support for a second term of President Radev and Vice President Yotova. The National Council is about to approve the scope of these policies proposed by the Executive Bureau for talks with them. The nomination and approval of presidential and vice presidential candidates carried out in accordance with our statutory requirements, “she added.

If the party proposing a government or the cabinet it nominates intends to take action on its own initiative or at the initiative of its coalition partners, which contradict the BSP’s main political guidelines and election commitments, it will not receive support from the BSP for Bulgaria “, added Cornelia Ninova.

According to her, given that an exploratory third term of the BSP is reached, the National Council together with the parliamentary group will make a decision on this issue as a matter of urgency.

“The National Council considered the report on the election results and the political report on the reasons and the necessary actions from now on. It decided to hold the meetings of the municipal and district councils by April 30, where the analyzes of the local structures should be made. “The results of the elections should be submitted to the National Council. The Executive Bureau should summarize them by May 15 and submit an action plan to the National Council from now on,” Ninova said.

She stressed that the meeting did not raise the issue of convening a congress or her resignation.

According to her, the people who protested in front of the party headquarters demanding resignation were not from the youth BSP, but several young people from the organization in Pernik.

“They did not ask for talks with me. Yesterday the BSP Executive Bureau had a meeting with the Executive Bureau of the Youth Union and they as a collective body of this organization did not ask this question. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, including asking me “Let me just remind you that I was elected directly by all members of the BSP a few months ago. The people to whom I am responsible are those who voted for me,” Ninova stressed, adding that at the meeting with municipal and regional chairmen without exception, support was expressed for the President and a desire not to resign.

“So with respect to the individual opinions of individual comrades, but we are a party that has its own rules and regulations. We plan to follow them,” said Cornelia Ninova.
