Bruno Spengler wins at Road Atlanta

The crew of Bruno Spengler and Connor de Phillippi won the 6 Hours of Road Atlanta in the BMW M8 GTE, the second of four rounds of the Endurance Cup of the IMSA season.

De Phillippi took command of the event in his last stint, with 52 minutes remaining.

At the end of their 254 laps of the track, the crew of the BMW M8 GTE No. 25 beat the Corvette No. 4 by 4.383 seconds.

Jesse Krohn and John Edwards, in the second BMW M8 GTE, took 3rd place.

This is the third straight victory for the Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) team in 2020.

De Phillippi and Spengler climb to 3rd place in the drivers’ standings.

BMW is 8 points closer to Chevrolet, which is at the top of the constructors’ championship.

It was a tough race, Spengler said. This circuit requires a lot of the pilot, and besides, I did not know him. The team had put together a very good car and Connor drove really well. Congratulations to the engineers and mechanics. We worked very hard, and finally, I give the RLL team my first victory.

Bruno Spengler will return to France in the coming days to prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will be contested September 19 and 20.

It is the first time that he will participate in the legendary event. He will be the fourth Quebecer to try to go to the end of this trying event for the mechanics and the drivers.

The 36-year-old driver, DTM champion in 2012, will drive for the private team ByKolles Racing in the LMP1 prototype category.
